Swedish Modern Brass Table Lamp by Böhlmarks
Very rare Swedish Modern table lamp executed in brass and bakelite, model 15339 by Böhlmarks. The design is defined by its wide, domed shade, delicately perforated with both small cross-shaped openings and fine round holes, creating a nuanced and atmospheric play of light.
The slender, fluted bakelite column provides a refined vertical contrast to the broad shade, anchored by a stepped brass base with rich surface variation. The composition is balanced and functional, with decorative elements integrated into a clean, structured form.
When lit, the perforations create a soft, star-like effect, adding a subtle decorative quality to the otherwise restrained design. An early and uncommon example of perforated shade work in Swedish lighting, possibly the first of its kind in a table lamp.
The brass shows a deep, natural patina with visible wear and markings, particularly to the base, enhancing the character of the piece. The bakelite remains well preserved apart from a small crack at the bottom.
