Midcentury Swedish Sofa "Ilona" by Arne Norell
This striking "Ilona" sofa was designed by renowned Swedish designer Arne Norell and produced during the 1970s. Constructed from stained beech wood, the frame features Norell’s hallmark craftsmanship: a visible construction with strong, rounded joints and a suspended back in black leather, secured with decorative buckles — both functional and ornamental. The original cushions are upholstered in a vibrant, botanical-patterned fabric that reflects the bold aesthetic of the era, offering a rich contrast to the natural tones of the wood and leather. Generously proportioned and visually expressive, the Ilona sofa embodies the best of Scandinavian modernism — a balance of structure, comfort, and character. Two sofas are available.
Condition: The fabric shows a few small imperfections on the edges of the cushions, but still is in very good condition considering its age. One of the holes in one of the leather straps is slightly ripped (shown in picture), but this doesn't affect the function. The sofa will be delivered disassembled for safer and cheaper shipping.
