“Eva” Easy Chair by Bruno Mathsson, Sweden, 1950s
Rare “Eva” easy chair designed by Bruno Mathsson, featuring its original green webbing — a colour seldom encountered — and fitted with the uncommon, adjustable reading table attachment. This configuration is particularly scarce.
The laminated bentwood frame demonstrates Mathsson’s signature organic construction, shaped for ergonomic comfort and visual lightness. The woven seat creates a flexible support that follows the body naturally, emphasizing both function and sculptural form.
The frame remains in good vintage condition with minor age-related wear. The original green webbing shows noticeable wear, surface abrasions, and imperfections consistent with long-term use. In order to preserve the original material, the most structurally stressed areas have been reinforced from underneath with additional supportive webbing. This ensures stability while retaining the authentic appearance of the chair.
The cushion is not original to the chair but is included.
A characterful and collectible example, retaining its original materials and rare reading table.
